Goodbye Sweetie P.

Goodbye Sweetie P.

October 7, 2015.

Sweetie P. Clark made her voyage up to doggie Heaven today.  She was in the arms of her loving caretakers up until the end.

Sweetie lived an exciting and adventurous life.  She patrolled the north side of Chicago, she visited the Vatican, and she set paws on a glacier.  She passed through most of the midwest and the southeast of the U.S. as well as three provinces in Canada.  She flew over the Atlantic, drove from Southwest Florida to Southeast Alaska, and had traveled by subway train, public bus, and sea ferry.

Before she adopted Maggie in November, 2000, she had a wildly successful career as a fashionista and celebrity.  She walked the runways and authored a fashion column. (http://sweetiepclark.blogspot.com/).   She brought her timeless fashion sense from the urban metropolises of Chicago and Rome to the less urbane South Central Indiana.

She had countless followers and admirers.  It was standard practice for passersby to comment on her luxurious fur coat and unsurpassable beauty.

Sweetie was fiercely protective of her family, and was particularly on alert against young, herky-jerky boys, motorcycles, bicycles and anyone or anything that did not move with grace and dignity.

She had too many boyfriends to name, and she would never kiss and tell. Needless to say, several past flames will be devastated by the news of Sweetie' passing.

In recent months, she had experienced health problems that limited her normal health and beauty regimen, but she was never seen in public looking anything but her best.

She is survived by her skin sister, Ginger, caretakers, Maggie and Matt, GP#1 and GM#1 and Aunt Tete.

Sweetie will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

Finnish Johannes Finnegan

Dear Readers,

After the sensation my last post caused, I thought I'd better be quick with a follow-up.

Exciting news!  I found a long lost cousin, Johannes. I'd long ago heard the legend of Finnish Johannes Finnegan, but doubted that he really existed.  I mean, I know about everybody who is anybody and I didn't know him.  Well, it turns out that he had some personal struggles, like yours truly, out of the public eye, unlike yours truly, and only recently has been given the support to flourish and be what he is.  Anyway, as soon as he saw a picture of me, Johannes immediately new that I was the great Sweetie P. Clark that he had long ago heard about, too, and decided to contact me post haste.

Johannes has since explained in great and careful detail why we've been kept apart for so many years.  It seems that there is a nasty streak in our family.  Apparently, this nastiness has caused great rifts within the family and it is born out of spite and envy. Some of the family just aches to have the  fortune we have in the looks, wit, fitness, finesse, and humility departments. C'est la vie.

Unfortunately, in his initial contact Johannes did slip and let leak that I am indeed from a long line of royalty, but the sophisticated reader probably already suspected as much.  I digress.  Johannes, who currently resides in Finland, has quickly become one of my confidants, such is the way it works with family.  Though we've only recently become acquainted, there is something eerily familiar about him and I find great comfort in our communications.  Any single ladies who might be reading this, let me just say Johannes is a hottie.  If he wasn't my cousin, I'd be hubba hubba for him.  But, because he is family, albeit my 81st cousin, I don't get those kinds of feelings for him.  Rather, to quote the famous philosopher, Dan Kelly, all I feel is "Yuck!".  (See more at http://www.amazon.com/Yuck-Significance-Disgust-Philosophical-Psychology/dp/0262518554 )

However, just because we are family, doesn't mean I can't appreciate great beauty when I see it.  To speak my truth, when I see Johannes, I kind feel like I'm really seeing myself.  What more could this gal ask for?

Who could it be? Moi? No, it's Johannes.
 Ta-ta,

The One and Only Sweetie P. Clark

What I am is What I am (or What)

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

Pardon my absence; I've been busy tracing my genealogy.  Since before my days on the runway to my present post as security, I've received countless comments on my great beauty, intelligence and refined disposition. I'm also inundated with  questions like, "Sweetie, how are you so pretty?" and "Sweetie, what kind of gal are you?".  In my valiant effort to address the concerns of my ever-adoring fans, I decided to delve in a little deeper to the mystery of what I am.

My methodical research lead me to many-a different tree branches and scores of fascinating gossip.  (I'll have a story or two to share at a later date.) It will probably come as no surprise to the reader that my family, and thus I, have a rather complicated, sophisticated, and sensational past.  However, as a courtesy to my busy readers, I've hacked away at the tangled web and will reveal in the most simplest of forms that what I am is what I am (or what).  [I"m not afraid of too many things.]

If you take this:
Finnish-Lapphund
And add this:
Border Collie
You get this:
Beautiful moi.

And mystery solv-ed!

Au revoir,

Sweetie P. Clark

Comfort Ellie

 Dear Readers,

Just last week the Washington high court caught up with yours truly and ruled that Ellie, a stunner of a gal and so-called "comfort dog", could appear in the courtroom without compromising the defendants right to a fair trial.  (I think what is being implied in this situation is that because of Ellie's presence, the defendant will have a fair trial.) Finally, finally, we may be nudging towards equality here, folks.  Ellie was granted the right to do her work in a public place.  This is what I've been advocating for all along; just the right to be where I need to be doing what I need to do.  Did it help that Ellie is a looker?  Probably.  But sometimes you just got to take what you can anyway you can.

Fringe Benefits

Hi all,

I wanted to pop in to let you all know what the trend for winter wear is.  If you live where I live, there really isn't such a season as fall so you should hurry up and winterize while there is still a little bit of daylight left to see what you are choosing.

The latest and greatest fashionistas will be wearing fringe this winter.  It's a great accessory to what can be otherwise drab outer wear and, if you so need, fringe can be a great bit of camouflage for less than stellar figures (That is not my problem, thank you six-pack abs.).  See below photo for an example.

Fringe on the cuffs.
You can choose to add fringe wherever your heart desires.  Personally, I don't think you can have too much fringe so I'll accent my glorious coat with fringe on the cuffs, chest, neck, and bottom.  Feel free to copy my lead.

Full fringe in all my glory.
I'll keep you updated on the fashion front.

Yours truly,
Sweetie P. Clark

P.S.  Kind comments and interesting questions always welcome.

La Bella Figura

For the unfortunate souls who are always striving for (and never quite achieving) a hot body,  I'd like to introduce the concept of la bella figura. It's a different way of thinking about our physical selves, maybe one that allows for an extra delectable bite of Salmon and a slightly shorter walk sans guilt.  In Italy, where this idea originates, people are concerned with having a beautiful line, or figure, unlike people in America who are on a quest to achieve a beautiful body. With a beautiful line, one may look sensational in the right outfit and a little less so with no outfit.  A beautiful body suggests that one need not wear clothes as the nakedness is what is to be shown off.  Although I will never be caught without my fur coat on, being the international sensation that I am, I have both la bella figura and a beautiful body.

What got me thinking about this all was looking at a photo that was recently snapped of me. My fur coat has become incredibly luxurious and it's hard to get a sense of my six pack abs and incredible physique by a look alone.  Right now, someone would have to get close and personal to feel my taut muscles and toned limbs. I almost worked myself up into a tizzy over this until I noticed that one could still admire my bella figura.  See for yourself.

Bye Bye Barney

Dear readers,

Whatever your feelings were for our former president, take a moment to remember the real leader of the Oval Office, Barney Bush.  Sadly, Barney passed away this last Friday.

I never had the chance to meet Barney in person, though I had received many an invitation during his eight year reign.  I always had a prior engagement and regretted to decline as he and I were kindred in some ways.  He had an excellent security record, as do I.  He was well-connected and entertained his guests with grace and calm, as do I.  He loved the outdoors, as do I. He was a loyal and faithful companion, as am I.  No matter the situation, Barney always knew how to hadle himself with dignity and poise, as do I.

It's a sad time.

Bye bye, Barney.
